New York TV Anchor Arrested After Allegedly Choking Wife

Rob Morrison, a CBS 2 news anchor, released a statement saying "allegations have been greatly exaggerated" about the domestic incident.

New York-area CBS anchor Rob Morrison, 44, was arrested on Sunday after allegedly choking his wife, Ashley, an anchor on CBS MoneyWatch.

Police were prompted to show up at the Darien, Conn., home of Morrison after his mother-in-law made a phone call, according to the Darien Police Department, the Darien News reported.

"Upon arrival, it was ascertained that Morrison had been becoming increasingly belligerent toward his wife during the course of the evening, culminating in his choking her by the neck with both hands," a police news release carried by the NY Daily News read.

Police saw "red marks" on his wife's neck, the release stated.

Rob Morrison was charged with second-degree strangulation as well as threatening and disorderly conduct, according to the Darien News. He was released on $100,000 bail.

A family statement that Morrison posted on Twitter claims that a review of the incident will show "allegations have been greatly exaggerated."

"Rob and Ashley Morrison are cooperating fully with the authorities to insure that all of the information necessary to properly evaluate this unfortunate incident is made available," the statement reads.
