Earlier, another driver crashed into a light pole, closing Red Hill Avenue.

A man suspected of driving drunk crashed into a power pole early Wednesday morning, and about an hour later a second man suspected of driving drunk hit an occupied police patrol car blocking the street after the first crash, officials said.

Ty Hosman, 34, of Tustin, crashed into the pole in the 13000 block of Red Hill Avenue around 1:20 a.m., police said.

Hosman sheared a power pole but was not seriously injured, police Sgt. Todd Bullock said.
Police arrested Hosman on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Hosman has been convicted of several traffic infractions in Orange County, including DUIs in 2005 and 2008, according to court records.

A Tustin police officer was in his patrol car blocking traffic on Red Hill when a vehicle struck his around 2:20 a.m., police said.

Tustin police called the CHP to investigate that crash, which is protocol for officer-involved crashes.

Edmundo Rosas, 20, was arrested by the CHP on suspicion of driving under the influence.
