Professional pickpockets Travel across the Globe to Steal!

Gang Arrested of professional pickpockets arrived in Ireland for St Patrick’s Day. Yes, they travel just to pickpocket you! They are everywhere!

The Irish Sun can reveal 30 foreign suspects were arrested in Dublin over last weekend.

They included a Romanian woman caught with NINE stolen €400 iPhones during Sunday’s festivities. Another Romanian woman was nabbed with a stolen iPhone on Saturday night — just one hour after arriving in the capital.

Two Eastern European men were caught with SIX stolen smartphones on Friday night.

And a Bulgarian man caught last week with NINE iPhones had a fake US driving licence.

Gardai believe 20 of the Romanians were part of an organized gang who traveled here from London. But some of the thieves were also from Algeria and south America.

Some 50 stolen phones were recovered during the weekend operation by officers from Operation Aughrim, which was launched by Det Insp Michael Cryan last summer.

None of the thefts were violent and just one violent robbery was recorded over the whole weekend.

In Dublin District Court yesterday, three Romanian nationals who pleaded guilty to theft were told to leave Ireland by midnight last night. They were also banned from Ireland for a year.

A source said: “Those caught were part of an organised network who came here for one purpose — to steal.”
