Pregnancy Discrimination Hot Springs Spa Sued

Dana Apuzzo worked for Glen Ivy Spa for nine years, she says she was an exemplary employee who worked her way up the ladder to a corporate position.  Dana says she never had issues at work, until she got pregnant.

"I announced my pregnancy to my boss the CFO of Glen Ivy, she made inappropriate comments to me about being pregnant," said Dana.  Some of those comments were outrageous, "About mothers coming back to work from maternity leaving coming back 50% less the employee," Dana said.

Dana tells FOX 11 she continued to work hard, with the goal of proving she was a valuable and committed employee.  Then she went on maternity leave, hoping things would improve, but she says they didn't.

"I had no option, I wanted to make it work, I wanted my job," said Dana.  She says things continued on a downward spiral, "It was very difficult everyday, I dealt with hostile work environment."

And Dana isn't the only female employee with similar allegations against Glen Ivy.  "I think around seven people had gone through this with Glen Ivy," Dana told FOX 11.

One of those women is Katherine Helock.  Over the years Katherine also worked her way up to a management role at Glen Ivy.  When Katherine first got pregnant in 2010, the reaction she got was positive.

"They were working on a new position that would open up more opportunity for me including increase of pay," said Katherine.

But while Katherine was on maternity leave, the assistant manager who worked beneath Katherine got the promotion.  "I was passed up for that promotion or even have a chance at it because I was on maternity leave," Katherine recalled.

Katherine claims over then ext year or so things got worse, her pay changed from salary to hourly and that resulted in a lower income for her.
