California Teacher Charged With Distributing Child Porn

A Covina teacher was charged on Thursday with distributing child porn over the Internet, and authorities said he may have also had sexual contact with minors.

John David Boyle, 49, was arrested after he allegedly met with an undercover agent in his classroom at Royal Oak Middle School for the purpose of viewing child pornography.

Boyle initially engaged in online chats with an undercover agent, believing that the agent shared his sexual interest in young boys, according to the affidavit in support of the complaint.

Boyle then set up an in-person meeting with the agent at the school, for the alleged purpose of engaging in sexual activity while watching child pornography together, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Videos depicting child pornography were found on Boyle’s computer, federal authorities said.

Agents who accessed Boyle’s Skype account said they found evidence he may have had sexual contact with minors.

The judge denied Boyle bail, and set his next court appearance for mid-July.

If convicted, he could get up to 20 years in federal prison.
