California Highway Patrol Friday reported two statewide deaths and no deaths on Los Angeles County highways during the first 36 hours of the Thanksgiving weekend.
This year, the CHP reported 401 motorists statewide who were arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, down from last year's 455.
In Los Angeles County, the CHP reported 81 arrests for suspicion of DUI, down from last year's 118.
In San Diego County, CHP officers arrested 42 people for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Statewide, arrests dropped, too. from 1,210 in 2012 to 1,073 this year.
