Gang Member Arrested for Arm Sniffing of a Child in Santa Ana, Ca.

A 56-year-old man pleaded guilty to grabbing a 10-year-old boy and sniffing his arm. He was sentenced to 32 months in prison on Thursday.

Santa Ana resident Victor Joseph Espinoza pleaded guilty to a false imprisonment charge. Espinoza's rap sheet includes a conviction as a gang member.

In exchange for his guilty plea, his charges of street terrorism and sentencing enhancement for gang activity were dismissed.

According to the prosecutor, the 10-year-old boy and his 19-year-old cousin were walking to the boy's soccer practice on a bike trail when Espinoza asked the boy if he wanted to see his gang tattoo. Espinoza then grabbed the boy and sniffed his arm, but the child was able to get loose.

The 19-year-old cousin yelled at Espinoza then ran to the soccer field and told the boy's coach what happened.

The coach was able to tackle Espinoza, but he was able to get free and hide behind a tree. Santa Ana police were able to use a helicopter to force him out.
