Donald trump no longer after Bill Maher, Lawsuit Dropped

The blowhard has withdrawn the $5 million lawsuit he filed against the comedian who dared him to prove he wasn't the spawn of an orangutan last year.

Trump sued Maher in February, claiming Maher flaked out on a "promise" to donate $5 million to charity if the Donald could prove he wasn't part ape.

Maher made the "offer" on The Tonight Show after Trump made his $5 million challenge to President Obama regarding the POTUS' college transcripts.

Trump said he formally responded to Maher's challenge with a copy of his birth certificate, proving he's the "son of Fred Trump" and not a monkey.

Maher scoffed, calling the whole situation a joke, which it clearly was.

For whatever reason, Trump has now filed documents to dismiss the case, who a rep for the Celebrity Apprentice star says the door could be reopened.

"The lawsuit was temporarily withdrawn to be amended and re-filed at a later date," says Michael Cohen, Trump's Executive V.P. and Special Counsel.

After producing his birth certificate to prove he's not descended from an orangutan, Trump demands that Maher pay up. Trump is now going to court, but he's likely to lose.

Donald Trump is filing a lawsuit against Bill Maher for failing to live up to an "unconditional offer" made on NBC's Tonight Show to donate $5 million to charity if Trump provided a copy of his birth certificate proving that he’s not “spawn of his mother having sex with orangutan.”

"Trump would have to prove that Maher’s words and conduct demonstrated, objectively, that he intended to be bound by his statement, and that he was not merely making a joke," says Dori Ann Hanswirth. "Given the outrageousness of Maher’s statement, the amount of money involved and the fact that his statement was made on a comedy TV show, it seems that Trump has an uphill battle here."

Then again, if Trump goes forward with his lawsuit, he will more likely be in for nothing but a big legal bill in his attempt to enforce a unilateral contract.

Now we have the case of the Trumpian orangutan.

Maher is a comedian. His "offer" might have been pointed, but what judge is going to agree that there's an objective basis for saying it was understood to be more than a joke? Especially when Maher presents evidence of the studio audience laughing.
