Maker of 'Disney princess' toy pays $225,000 fine


SAN DIEGO—A company accused of selling deceptively packaged "Disney Princess" jewelry kits in California has agreed to pay a $225,000 fine.

U-T San Diego ( http://bit.ly/Wevl1M) says a Chula Vista woman complained that her 6-year-old daughter was crushed when the kit she'd bought with saved money turned out to be half-empty.
The packaging appeared to show it was full of beads.

San Diego city and county prosecutors sued Horizon Group USA, which agreed to accept last month's civil judgment but didn't acknowledge any wrongdoing. The district attorney's office says there's no evidence the company intended to defraud consumers.
